Your Yes Moment Today

Making That Moment Magical!

How The Magic Happens

This is exciting - you have decided to get married! Here's how I can help you create your "magical yes moment!"

I like to begin by meeting with the couple, whether it be in person or over the phone. This way you get a sense of who I am and how I can help plan your ceremony.  We start by discussing your vision of the ceremony, and then the work for me begins.
I like to send the couple a draft of the script - this gives you a chance to make corrections or changes. After all, this is YOUR wedding! There are two legal statements that each of you must make, but after that it is all up to you!
Once the final draft is approved, I am  ready to go. If a rehearsal is planned, we will go through the mechanics of the ceremony, and I walk you through how/where to stand, when to face each other, etc.
I will be at your wedding at least 45 minutes before it is scheduled to start. This gives me a chance to talk to the photographer (if there is one) and get organized with the sound system (again, if there is one!). As a retired teacher, I have a "gym voice" and can be heard without a mic if necessary!
I then like to check on the wedding couple and see how everyone is doing, and when it's time, I will be standing at the front waiting for you.
I am excited to be working together with you to make your "Yes Moment Magical!"

About Me

Karen Harris

Karen
I am retired teacher who loved every one of my school days working with students either in the classroom or as a guidance counsellor. I have lots of experience in public speaking and one of my gifts is to be able to bring my sense of humor and compassion to any situation. I am also known for my organizational abilities.
When I am not meeting with couples or officiating weddings, you can find me either on my road bike (cycling), in a Crossfit gym (box), or at the local pool doing lane swim. I love to read (murder mysteries are my favorite) and I will admit it - I LOVE to watch TV!
I am the proud Mom of two wonderful children - Kate and Luc, and given the opportunity I will brag about them!

Your "Yes Moment".... what is that about?

My tag line actually comes from a wonderful writing by Robert Fulghum entitled "Union."

You have know each other....from the first glance of acquaintance to this point of commitment. At some point you decided to marry. From that moment of yes to this moment of yes, you have been making promises and agreements in an informal way. All those conversations that were held riding in a car or over a meal or during long walks - all those sentences that began with "when we are married" and continued with "I will and you will and we will," those late night talks that included "someday" and "somehow" and "maybe" - and all those promises that are unspoken matter of the heart.

All these common things are the real process of a wedding. The symbolic vows that you are about to make are a way of saying to one another: "You know all those things we've promised and hoped and dreamed - I meant it all - every word." Look at one another and remember this moment. Before this moment you have been many things to one another - acquaintance, friend, companion, lover and even teacher. Now you shall say a few words that take you across a threshold of life, for after these vows, you shall say to the world "this is my husband, this is my wife."
